Another split, another 8 weeks our analysts inhale hopium for Team Liquid’s success. This team
on paper has a plethora of talent in their superstars, but have failed to mesh as a 5 man roster.
Part of this could be due to roster issues at the beginning of spring split, but we would be remiss
if we didn’t mention draft issues. In particular, Bwipo’s top lane counters came to bite Team
Liquid in ass in playoffs, when all teams in the LCS were experimenting Ornn counters. Coming
into the Summer split, we’re expecting this team to start off strong and continue to develop as a
top 2 team in the LCS. They’ve had plenty of time to experiment, and we need to see signs of
elite play as they ramp up their ultimate goal, the world stage.
IMT on the other hand had a lackluster split after some promising changes at the beginning of
Spring Split, with both micro and macro issues plaguing them all the way to the end. This split,
they aim to shake things up with jungler Kenvi, ADC Lost and support Ignar replacing jungler
Xerxe, ADC Wildturtle, and support Destiny. We really like these changes in the jungle and
support role, as Kenvi is an up and coming jungler in the academy scene and Ignar is a proven
talent in the past LCS splits. Immortal’s pickup of Lost is jarring, given his lackluster split on
Golden Guardians. However, Lost may be the best ADC willing to join this squad, as many
superstar free agents are either not available or unwilling to join a middle-of-the-pack team.
Our analysts predict Team Liquid will come out with a standard composition that favours scaling
and team fight, while Immortals will handshake any matchups in the meta. We think Team
Liquid has an advantage in player skill as well as the new meta, which favours scaling ADCs
and mages mid. Team Liquid thrives in these slower metas with more leeway towards team fight
and skill checks, and we predict Immortals will handshake and slowly lose the game.
