FLY Quest VS 100 Thieves 01/16/2022

The first two days are in, and we’ve more or less expected the results, with the exception of  two teams who severely disappointed fans this time around. One thing our analysts noticed was the overwhelming importance on the control mage meta which seemed to be prioritized by every team so far. Moreover, the key to success also seemed to rely on a few key picks in the draft.

The stars are aligning for 100T this tournament, as they dumpstered their opposition on Friday. Abbadage has shown his competence on control mages like Syndra and Corki, while FBI and Huhi fit comfortably in a lane-focused bot lane meta. Closer especially looked good with a 1300 gold difference at 15 minutes, solidifying him as one of the best junglers in his group. Ssumday is no slouch either, playing a spectacular weak-side game until his jungler is able to impact his lane. We think that the meta is perfect for 100T, and they’ll continue to look good as more games are played.

FlyQuest on the other hand looked lost the moment they stepped onto the rift. Josedeodo had very little impact for the entirety of the day, while Aphromoo and Johnsun tried their damndest to bring back the game through mid-late game teamfighting. We think Toucouille’s debut was solid enough to make him the best member on the FlyQuest squad, as he pulled out a good Syndra game and a mediocre Corki pick. Kumo’s tank play hasn’t impressed us, and the stats show that he’s often down 670 gold at 15 with a 20cs deficit. This isn’t surprising in isolation, but he just doesn’t seem to have enough impact in these late game fights. One issue we have with FlyQuest is their poor drafting ability, which led to a TSM academy squad giving them a beating throughout their match. We thought this lineup might show glimpses of quality play, but the topside duo of Josedeodo and Kumo just aren’t working. Although it’s too early to say for sure, FlyQuest in their current form look like a bottom 3 team in the league.

Prediction: There isn’t much to say, 100T looks better in lane and out of it. 100T should sweep this game and give FlyQuest a 0-3 record.
