100 Thieves VS Dignitas BO3 – 100T Win – 01/22/2022

Going into quarters, our analysts don’t feel comfortable using stats from the group stage due to the lack of games played. We feel that stats hardly give us the full story, especially when matchups are so lopsided. Going into semis, expect to see in-depth analysis on the matchups.

Not much has changed in our opinion of 100T since our last prediction, even after a decisive victory over Cloud9 on the last day of group stage. We still believe they’re a strong team that plays well when ahead but may suffer from consistency problems in a best-of series going forward in the tournament. Despite that, they have a chance to prove doubters wrong as they head into their first quarterfinal match against DIG.

Our analysts seem to understand DIG well after seeing the (late) insertion of River in the last day of group stage and have come to the conclusion that they’re a mid to low-tier team in the LCS. They have the potential to affect playoff standings against the lower echelon of teams, but severely lack the star power to reach the top of the standings. More specifically, the bot lane duo of Biofrost and Neo are decent in lane, but often find themselves in precarious positions once the map opens up and team play is a must. The general consensus is you should never bet on DIG, because they’re as coinflip as they come. Even on their best day, they’ll likely make macro mistakes that could swing a winning game into chaos in a matter of minutes.

Prediction: 2-1 100T

100T burned us once during lock-in when they lost to FLY early in the tournament, but have shown resilience when they handed C9 a beatdown just yesterday. We think the Thieves will take this, but may drop a game due to random errors in game or draft issues. DIG has a small chance of winning if 100T have an off day, but it seems very unlikely given their lack of star power.
