Evil Geniuses vs Golden Guardians – EG 2- 0 – 01/23/2022

Going into quarters, our analysts don’t feel comfortable using stats from the group stage due to the lack of games played. We feel that stats hardly give us the full story, especially when matchups are so lopsided. Going into semis, expect to see in-depth analysis on the matchups.

EG are by far the best team we’ve seen in lock-in, and we firmly believe they’re the favourites to win the entire thing after the elimination of 100T. Unlike the Thieves, EG has looked consistent throughout all their games, and haven’t made any large mistakes that put them in a difficult position. The best part of EG to us is that they can win through any lane with solid players in Impact, Jojopyun and Danny. Their backbone and engage usually lie in veterans Vulcan and Inspired who have found openings in games that turn small leads into wins.

Golden Guardians made it to quarterfinals? Jokes aside, we don’t believe too much in this team. Our analysts think this team doesn’t have upside like the DIG lineup did yesterday; Stixxay is nowhere near the level of Neo and Iconic is no River. This roster is slightly better than the IMT roster we saw before, but only had to beat a TSM academy team to get here. We also want to highlight the draft, where they were able to get the trifecta of Jinx, Corki and Gwen due to TSM’s blunder which ultimately decided the game. Without comp advantage, GG might be facing a quick 2-0.

Prediction: EG looks more like TL than 100T in that they are a solid roster who take a mile when teams give them an inch. They hardly make mistakes, but play aggressive enough to get leads on the map. We predict a 2-0, but GG may steal a game if the draft goes their way. One player to look at for GG is Ry0ma who looked good in the Guardian’s win over TSM. The team will need to draft for him, and pray that things go their way.
